Hey guys!
luvusagi here! So! Today the boy and I went on a quest to obtain THE Original Ramen Burger.
<Insert Backstory> So I just recently finished doing a 20 day juice “fast” or “Reboot”. EGADS!!! A Juice “fast”!!! Yep I had pretty much nothing but juice to sustain me for the past 20 days (yes I did some “cheating” at the behest of the boy). So like you may or may not know I’m a relapsing World of Warcrafter and intense gamer plus everything I do outside of gaming is quite sedentary. SO due to that, not exercising regularly and my food obsession…I’ve put on the pounds and boy have I felt miserable because of that and it started effecting my overall health. I must note as well that I am by no means and unhealthy eater, I do eat my veggies, drink no soda, drink primarily water and very rarely do we even eat out…but something’s been messing with my weight and causing it to fluctuate. I’ve always watch random documentaries on Netflix or Hulu and while on my week about food documentaries I stumbled across Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. After watching it I contemplated for a couple of months of actually doing a Juicing Reboot, I really felt that my body just needed a jump-start on its processing power. So in February I began mentally preparing for doing a “Reboot” as Joe Cross refers to it, I would do it after I returned from the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco the first week of March. After returning from the conference I was totally prepared, I wanted to do this to improve my overall health…and it was AWESOME. I had heard some horror story about the initial process but I experience nothing traumatic and day by day I was enjoying the results. The juices were for the most part awesome…though on occasion I added to much ginger to my green juices and yah…watch your ginger input. Anyway I felt great, my body was looking better, I never felt hungry or deprived oh and I also lost about 15 lbs over the course of the 20 days while working out 3-4 days a week doing weight training and some cardio (no more than 15 mins before moving to weights). I definitely want to incorporate more Rebooting into my diet maybe doing a weekend every month and at least a 15 day Reboot every 3-6 months but we shall see. <End Backstory>
So tl;dr I did a 20 day juice fast/Reboot, feeling awesome and looking for something unique to reward myself/eat with the boy
So traipsing the interwebz a couple days before my “Reboot” ended I stumbled across an Instagram of the mysterious Ramen Burger. I felt this would be the perfect thing to eat with the boy since we haven’t “shared’ a meal together in nearly a month. So I found that the The Ramen Burger could be obtained at a location near me, the LA area in Koreatown. We made the trek by car and parked at a little shopping center beside the location (If you take a trip by car you can also park across the street and the Vons, there’s more parking there). It’s a quaint little dine-out only location with a service window and a table with a few chairs placed along the walls.
As we went to order the guy on duty was super nice and talked to us a little about the burgers, he did suggest for newbies to try a plain original…but the boy wanted more lol we live on the edge…and I love bacon. So we ordered an Original as well as a Spicy and equipped it with bacon…mmmhmmm bacon, as well as a side of Miso Garlic Fries. It didn’t take long for our orders to finish, and the first bites were divine, the Ramen Bun was quite solid and withstood a barrage of bites, the burger pattie was flavorful and juicy to boot and the sprinkle of greens I think it was just arugula, added a nice bit of crunch.
Though the burger patties was a bit small for our standards this is definitely a must try…and try again. We shall return and I’m going to add a fried egg (as well as bacon) next time. Also the fries were just meh, didn’t really get a whole lot of flavor from the miso garlic, though we were informed that they were running low on it so they may not have added a lot. If you’re in the LA, New York City area I whole heartily recommend check out the place especially if you’re a fan of ramen or a wannabe foodie ^.^. The only draw back I’d say for the LA location is that it’s not dine in location and there’s not a larger area to eat outside. It makes it quite difficult to enjoy with even a small group of friends, and it’s something you’re going to want to eat immediately. But either still a must try hehe.
If you’ve tried the Ramen Burger let me know what you think also if you know of any cool food places/places around LA definitely tell me so I can go scope them out! Until next time.
Later Dayz!
