The Playstation E3 2015 Conference had all the feels! The announcements made had many gamers misty eyed or even breaking into tears (myself included). E3 2015 will definitely be one to remember! And they opened with a bang!
Opening up with one of the most anticipated games for the past…oh 6 years since it was first announced at E3 2009. From the studio that brought us Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian. The reveal showed the first ever actual game play footage of The Last Guardian on the PS4 showcasing young boy the story is centered around and his friend a bird/dog creature as they traverse a collapsing ruin. From what was shown the sounds and lighting of the game are amazing and there’s going to be a lot of hair raising moments as you have the young boy preform heart gripping leaps and is hopefully caught by his companion and you navigate your way around. The game definitely looks stunning, it’s set to be released in 2016.
After The Last Guardian gameplay, a new game from Guerrilla games – Horizon: Zero Dawn. The game looks amazing. It’s set in a dystopian future earth where the forest have overtaken the earth; there may have been some event to cause the earth’s populace to lose the use of electricity. Though with the lack of electricity, what remains at humanities disposal most of the tech seems to have merged with the wild life. Humanity is but a scattered race of tribes that now has to combat these new robotic life forms that threaten them. They showed a trailer as well as gameplay. You play the part of the narrator, a young woman from a prominent tribe. She get to see her using stealth and she attacks a group of robotic animals that appear to be like deer. She is then attacked by a larger mech dinosaur. As she fights it she uses a barrage of weapons to take down. Her main weapon seems to be a compound bow, as she attacks the mech dino she destroys parts of it at one point shooting off a cannon that she then uses against it. As she weakens it she using her bow to tether the dino to the ground and perform the killing blow. This games definitely has high hopes for me. Can’t wait to see more in the coming months.
A new Hitman game was announce under the title Hitman! There will be PS4 exclusives through the life of the game as well as exclusive beta on PS4 when you preorder the game. This newest Hitman it’s definitely going to be an ambitious one. The developers plan to release new contracts for player and take a lot of player feedback for the development of new additions to the games.
After Hitman they showed some new Street Fighter V gameplay. Street Fighter V will be a Playstation 4 console exclusive and will be also released on PC. PS4 will have exclusive public beta on PS4 on July 23.
So… Hello Games just blew my mind with their gameplay demo of No Man’s Sky. No man Sky is going to be crazy expansive sandbox game!! The main objective is that you’re on a race to reach the center of the universe but you’re able to explore so many solar systems within the universe. There’s oo many places you can visit and some you’ll probably never get to them all since there are just so many. The gameplay is about exploring, trading, and fighting. You can scan and record all matter of things as you explore the planets. All the planets are also completely destructible, but there are also sentinels on the planets that protect it from explorers. The demo also ends with a beautiful quote, “Somewhere something incredible is waiting to be known” – Carl Sagan.
Media Molecule creators of Little Big Planet announced a new game! The game is called Dreams. The developers have created what they call the Dreamverse, which is a creative platform for players to share their dreams and creativeness. Your creations will be share with other players and you’ll be able to view and experience the creation of others. I really can’t even really express the magnitude of this game. It’s pretty much unlimited possibilities… It’s also visually stunning. The gameplay is made to be extremely user friendly with a push and pull ability when creating things and to simulate drawing by moving your controller. They didn’t really going into in depth on the mechanics but it’s definitely a game to look forward to. After the demo they showed more footage of gameplay made entirely using the PS4 system and it truly feels like the possibilities will be limitless.
Firewatch! A game being developed by Panic. It looks crazy awesome. Not much revealed from the trailer but definitely going to be an open world survival exploration game shrouded in mystery. You play a guy in communication with a woman and they two of you try to figure out what happen to two girls that disappeared. The also game is set in the Wyoming wilderness and the colors, sound, and expansiveness look very appealing.
A new expansion was revealed for Destiny called The Taken King. New gear and maps were revealed exclusively for PS4.
A new female assassin has been revealed for the Assassin’s Creed Franchise in Assassin’s Creed: Sydicate. Evie Frye the twin sister of Jacob Frye and you can play as either of the assassin’s. The game is set in Victorian London and will focus around famous crimes and mysteries of that era.
A new game was revealed for the Final Fantasy Franchise, World of Final Fantasy. Not much was reveal other than it’s ridiculously adorable. The game centers around siblings and they have the ability to shrink to adorable chibi stature and fight and right of monsters of the world as well as shrink the monsters and carry them around. World of Final Fantasy will be exclusive to Playstation 4 and Vita.
After the reveal of World of Final Fantasy…we were set up for the shock of our lives. Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I am not ashamed to say it…I burst into tears the moment it started… I just knew in my heart of hearts… Something fans of the series have been waiting for since the graphics of FFVII was reveal on the PS3. I was pretty much emotional overwhelmed after that reveal to really care about anything else but Playstation kept pulling out the stops.
After a quick showcase of some new indie games coming to PS4, they announced Shenmue 3 on Kickstarter!!!! Something I myself and many gamers have been craving for the past 14 years!!! I can’t believe it’s been that long… They did a live countdown to the launch of their Kickstarter campaign and within a half an hour of launching they were already a quarter of the way to their $2mil goal! And less than 10 hours later they reached their goal, as of now it’s sitting around $2.7 mil. I will definitely be backing them on Kickstarter as well. Shenmue is a game that was crucial to my childhood gaming experience. Shenmue 3 has broken the record for fastest Kickstarter to reach not just 1 but 2 million dollars.
After the amazing Kickstarter announcement, a Batman Arkham Knight Exclusive was revealed. Nightmare Missions, they will be exclusive for PS4.
Project Morpheus Playstation’s VR project was touched on a bit an Playstation announced they formed a partnership with Activision and Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be coming first to PS4. Gameplay looks intense and definitely reminiscent of Titanfall with a lot of free running and playing off the environment during combat. Multiplayer looks crazy insane. This August Playstation will be getting first access and I believe exclusive access to the multiplayer beta.
There was some brief coverage of Disney Infinity with Star Wars, Marvel and Pixar Characters coming to Disney Infinity this Fall. Though it wasn’t brief enough as that guy announcing it was a little too overzealous in trying to sell it to us… Life I just felt like I was just experiencing a sales pitch. Afterwards more coverage was show of Star Wars Battlefront which looks incredible coming November 17, 2015. What is most exciting for me is split screen co-op!
Lastly… Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. A live demo was shown… which also encountered some technical difficulties, though not completely unexpected but does cause concern when trying to get to the latest info and gameplay of such a highly anticipated game. After the issues with the demo were fixed the gameplay video opens to Drake and Sully entering a crowded market place and are then attacked by some well-armed enemies. Everything about the game looks amazing. The latest Uncharted is gorgeous as ever, even just the short glimpse we got of the crowded market place, it was vibrant and lifelike, it seems no addition to detail was spared. I’m one for exploration…so I’m definitely going to want to stop and take a look at all the beautiful environmental details. After a short shoot out, Drake and Sully hop into a jeep to out run an armored truck. The driving looks amazing!!! The environment also seems to be more open as appears you’re able take multiple routes trying to escape the truck. Oh how I’ve missed Drake and Sully’s banter. The demo ends with Drake jumping out of the jeep after hooking onto the vehicles chasing after their compatriot Sam it fades to the title screen as Drake is about to crash into what looks like a bamboo barrier. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End looks to be a match for the other games in the series, as a fan, I was not disappointed. I’m looking forward to more coverage in the coming months!
Okay so I don’t know about you…but this year’s E3 Playstation Conference was a train wreck all over my emotions. What was your favorite announcement and what are you looking forward to most coming out of E3?
luvusagi OUT!
